Rambler Media Majority-Bought by Russian Media Holding Firm Prof-Media

Rambler Media, one of the biggest Internet and mobile media companies addressing the Russian market (and listed on London’s AIM), has sold a majority stake in the company to Russian media holding company Prof-Media‘s unit PM Invest Company (owned by billionaire Vladimir Potanin). It has acquired a direct 48.8 percent stake in it, and has agreed to buy an additional 6 percent stake from Endicott Holdings, which will give it a controlling stake of 54.8%, after Russian regulators approve the deal. The media holding did not disclose the sum involved.
The company’s Internet portal, Rambler.ru, is visited by 21 million people a month, and its search engine is one of the most popular in Russia.
Last week, Rambler Media confirmed the sale of its Rambler television business to Prof-Media’s Osgora Productions for $23 million.
Kommersant:  The market capitalization of Rambler before the deal was $440 million. Based on that, 54.8 percent is over $235 million. Rambler’s revenues in the first six months of the year were $15.8 million and net profit $2.47 million.
