RealNetworks Buys European Gaming Company Zylom For $21 Million
RealNetworks has started putting the money it got from MSFT settlement to use: it has bought out Dutch game firm Zylom Media Group for $21 million. moving further into the casual gaming sector.
This is Real’s third major acquisition in this sector: Gameshouse (in Jan 2004, for $35.6 million); Mr Goodliving (in May 2005, for $15 million) and now this.
WSJ: Zylom, a distributor and developer of games, has a library of more than 70 titles in seven languages, including localized versions of the popular Bejeweled game. In 2005, the company said it had net income of about $750,000 on revenue of $7.9 million.
RealNetworks is interested in more such deals outside U.S., CEO Rob Glaser said in the WSJ story.
