ReplayTV’s Replay: Will Launch Software DVR Service For PCs
ReplayTV is planning a fall launch for a new service that will add DVR capabilities to PCs. David Lieberman reports that the ReplayTV PC Edition will go on sale in September with a free 30-day trial and an initial fee of about $100 for the first year. That includes software and EPG access; program data will run about $20 a year after that. Replay missed the mark with physical DVRs, was bought out of bankruptcy and is now trying to make the shift to software/service-based. It won’t work on all PCs; minimum requirements include a P4, Windows XP and, in most cases, a TV Tuner. It will be packaged with a Hauppage WinTV PVR card. A skip button is included on the remote but it will take third-party software to burn DVDs.
