SingShot Media, a startup founded by founder and former execs of Rhapsody/Listen.com (now owned by RealNetworks), has raised about $1 million in funding from Transcosmos Investments, the VC arm of Japanese IT outsourcing firm Transcosmos. SingShot is developing and online talent platform centered around karaoke. TCI has invested in a bunch of pan U.S.-Japanese companies (helping them break into the Japanese market) like Pheedo, Buzznet, Edgeio…of course, karaoke being a Japanese invention, it makes sense. Sean Ryan, the former CEO of Listen.com, is now involved as the CEO of his own online-avatar startup called Meez, which launched last month.
