Russian Visual Search Engine Quintura Gets “Significant” Funding
Quintura, a visual search engine startup from Russia, has received a “significant amount” of venture capital from Mangrove Capital (an early-stage investor in Skype), ABRT Venture Fund and the partners of OpenView Venture Partners. The deal is the first Western VC investment made in an Internet company from Russia, the company said, though I am not so sure about that claim (the company is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and software development operations in the Moscow).
Quintura has a UI displaying an interactive visual cloud of related keywords and phrases in addition to a traditional list of search results.
