Search Engine ChaCha Gets $6 Million From Bezos, Among Others

Jeff Bezos is getting more active in the digital media startup funding space: After recently investing in Wikia, his venture fund Bezos Expeditions is now investing in another search engine ChaCha. The Indianapolis-based search startup has received $6 million in funding from Bezos, former Compaq CEO Rod Canion and Jack Gill, veteran Silicon Valley investor. Bezos’ fund has also invested in 37Signals and Linden Labs.
ChaCha says it is different from others because it offers two options for searching—one with a human guide who assists in real-time via an IM chat and the other option providing immediate search results that include user-ranked results.
