Seattle Start-up Pluggd Raises $1.65 Million Seed Round From Intel, Angels
Another start-up in the crowded audio-video search market gets funding ... Seattle-based Pluggd, founded in February 2006, has raised $1.65 million in a seed round, mostly from Intel but also from a group of angel investors including former RealNetworks CFO Mark Klebanoff. The “flagship feature” is called HearHere; it allows users to go right to specific words within audio using speech recognition and software and proprietary algorithims. The audio technology is being used for podcasts on the company’s own site with video on the way. (The site also has a recommendation engine.) The new funds will go to distribution efforts, according to VentureBeat. The demo site uses ESPN Radio SporsCenter.
