SkyRider, which is developing a search engine for P2P networks, received $12 million in venture funding, two months after getting $8 million, the company said in a statement.
        The funding was lead by ComVentures and included existing backers Sequoia Capital and Charles River Venture Partners. CEO Ed Kozel said in the statement that P2P networks reach as searchers per day as Google and Yahoo.
VentureBeat: It will essentially hijack the user software accessing the peer-to-peer networks, and force its own ads very high up in the search results when a user is searching for something. The company’s platform spans across P2P platforms…the firm will also be developing ways to better mine information—such as peoples’ watch behaviors and histories, and geography—to improve advertising relevance.
