Eventful.com has received a $7.5-million second-round funding, from Bay Partners and was joined by notable names Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Omidyar Network, and Esther Dyson. The investment brings Eventful’s total funding to $9.6 million. It closed a first round of funding in March led by DFJ.
The San Diego-based company allows people to post on events such as music, sports, alumni gatherings, and author readings, and lets users explore these events, as well as provides users with alerts, feeds, personal calendars, and reminders of upcoming events. Sound a bit like at least 2-3 other such listing firms.
Eventful’s revenue model includes bringing in advertising in the future, as well as syndicating its features and tool sets to those who want to use or license some of Eventful’s functionality.
