Synacor Receives $6.5M Round

Synacor, the web content distribution firm which is targeting second tier ISPs with an alternative multi-media subscription service, has secured a round of investment funding worth $6.5 million. New investors are Access Technology Capital LLC of San Francisco, Intel Capital of Santa Clara, Calif., and Rand Capital Corp. of Buffalo, N.Y. Early investors Walden International Investment Group of San Francisco and Crystal Venture Capital of Cleveland joined them.

Synacor aggregates and sells Web content subscription packages to Internet providers searching for alternative sources of revenue. Read a story I did recently on Synacor, titled “Tapping the Second-Tier ISP Market: Will Content Providers Bite?
