UK Desktop/RSS App Firm Skinkers Gets $3.5 Million Funding

Skinkers, the UK-based providers of branded RSS/desktop applications, has raised about $3.5 million in funding. The investment is the company’s first institutional funding since its 2002 launch and was received from NewMediaSpark.

The funding will be used to promote existing services, such as its recently launched branded RSS readers, and develop new services. Customers include FT, CNN, BSkyB, and the BBC.
