Platinum Studios, a multiplatform comics company,  has bought out DrunkDuck.com,  an online web comics community site.  It is opening the revamped site today at the same Web address as DrunkDuck 2.0.
Platinum says it specializes in adapting comics and graphic novel content to feature film, tv, animation, games, the Internet, and mobile.
In a related move, the company plans to begin publishing its comic books online before they go to press for traditional distribution through stores and newsstands.
DrunkDuck was founded four years ago by Dylan Squires, then a freelance computer programmer, and it quickly became an extended community of Webcomics artists, writers and fans, says this NYT story. As part of the deal with Platinum, he has been named director of software development for Platinum Studios’ New Media Group.
