imageThis rumor has been going on for a couple of months, and finally the confirmation, via Forbes.com: Yahoo has bought the distributed social network MyBlogLog...the story says the price is around $10 million.
The Orlando, FL-based website that enables readers to leave information about themselves, building a social networks on blogs and on social networking sites. From a business perspective, Mybloglog also looks at reader behavior inside blogs, like what is being read and where readers go next, delivering information it can sell to web advertisers…that’s probably the charm for Yahoo.
The service started in July, and has spread rapidly through various high-profile blogs adopting it.
Bradley Horowitz, VP of product strategy at Yahoo, said Mybloglog will likely remain branded as a separate entity, but Yahoo users will be able to register on it with their Yahoo password. The reader communities will soon be able to access Yahoo services, like the Flickr photo site or the Yahoo Answers information service, to their groups.
MyBlogLog CEO Scott Rafer will now work under Horowitz.
