Yahoo China Sued by Music Labels/IFPI, For Mp3 Links
This is similar to what Baidu was sued for earlier last year: providing links to illegal MP3 and music download sites. Yahoo China, the nation’s second-largest search engine, will be sued by IFPI, the body which represent music labels internationally.
Yahoo China, operated by Alibaba.com which is 40 percent owned by Yahoo, provides links on its site to illegally copied music on non-affiliated sites. About 90 percent of all recordings in China are illegal, with sales of pirated music worth about $400 million annually, according to the federation.
The labels are yet to reach an agreement with Baidu, so this one might drag on too.
