Zune’s Falling Fast on Sale Charts
I finally managed to install Zune on my computer today (multiple tries, at least an hour or so of install tries and total time, firmware upgrades etc)...the Zune marketplace software is a blatant rip-off of MTV Urge, but that probably was the understanding that the two companies came to in the last few months, if not before. And then, after an easy music download and sync process (which I do really like for its simplicity), the hardware player itself is an exercise in Microsoft’s version of usability. It will make you jump through hoops: the wheel, the menu screen, the sub-divisions within that, everything. Or maybe I am just cranky today. (Oh, I also like the radio part. Simple…make it simple like a radio menu. Seriously.)
Anyway, to the point, WSJ has a story about how sales of Zune are not keeping up, judging by the charts on Amazon.com..it is about #20 in the list of top selling MP3 players...iPods and SanDisk players are much higher than Zune. Holiday weekend sales aren’t available yet, but analysts say the Zune is more likely to snag market share from other digital media players instead of Apple this holiday season. Sales estimates from a number of industry analysts for Zune ranged from 300,000 units to a high of about 500,000 units for the 2006 holiday season.
If Microsoft sells close to the upper range of sales estimates of 500,000, Zune would generate about $125 million, a minuscule amount in comparison to overall revenue, the story says.

According the this site zunescene.comthey really do a marketing against the iPod and strongly believe in their product. Seems that they have a nice big screen. Better check it out!

It may be a lousy product…but Zune has a wonderful ad, with a great song, now playing at movie theaters. I like the marketing!

I just bought a Zune the other day, and I already found several reasons why I should have bought an iPod instead. In my opinion, there are just too many complications; it’s not very user friendly.
All I wish to do is buy songs/download songs, but I have to purchase points first. The problem is it keeps saying the my credit card is non valid and that I should check the number or try again.
At this point I cantacted my back as if they’re to blame. But nope, my credit card works fine.
I asume the problem is related to the billing address. I’m stationed over seas in the military. Zune doesn’t provide a set up for service members over seas as of yet, so I was forced to put down my stated side address, which is probably the reason it’s saying my card is none valid due to the billing address doesn’t match with my state side address. (stupid)
Why is it so difficult to delete the song off of my Zune?

Well, TOM…you’re not the only military member who was fooled by the Zune clan. I too purchased this POS and am now stuck with something I cant manage to get a “paid” account for because I am serving overseas. Guess the only option is to order a few X-Box Live cards from the states and wait a few weeks to get an active account. Geez…......
