Google (NSDQ: GOOG) continues to pick up talent—and to add to its tech ability to compete with Facebook—by acq-hiring. The latest: buying social search startup Angstro and hiring its highly respected co-founder Rohit Khare to work on its social net Google Me. Khare started the company in 2006 with investor Salim Ismail to find ways to break through the clutter and deliver finely tuned information. Angstro developed apps to ID photos, create social address books, search and use data from Facebook and more. Some of the apps have are open source; some will shift to Google’s ownership now that Angstro is closed but that doesn’t mean they’ll last as distinct products.
