Scripps Sells Its Character Licensing Business To Iconix For $175 Million

EW Scripps (NYSE: SSP), which said in late February that it was putting its United Media character licensing business up for sale, has now sold those operations to Iconix Brand Group for $175 million in cash. The deal means Iconix will take over the licensing of brands, such as “Peanuts”…

Playboy Magazine To Be Managed by American Media; Sale Still Being Worked On

Update: 30 minutes later, WSJ is also reporting along similar lines on outsourcing of print/publishing to AMI, though it doesn’t have anything on the sale. Edit will remain with Playboy (NYSE: PLA), while rest of the functions, including ad sales and distribution, will now be managed by AMI, it quotes…
