Down to You and The Wild Ones by Michelle Leighton (self-published, romance)

How they hit the list: Leighton, who goes by M. Leighton and has self-published fifteen books, says she’s not sure how Down to You and The Wild Ones hit the New York Times bestseller lists. She did a promotional event at book review blog A Tale of Many Reviews for two weeks following each book’s release.

Leighton just signed a deal with Penguin imprint Berkley for The Wild Ones. “They’ll be taking over the ebook soon and then we’ll be working together on the next two books out, once I get them written,” she said. “I’m so, so excited to be taking this journey with them.” Her agent is Kim Whalen at Trident.
