Application Roundup: STAR-Yatra; Moneycontrol-Markets On Mobile
– STAR India has signed a 12 month alliance with Online Travel Agent (OTA) Yatra.com to offer air travel reservations, hotel bookings etc on STARs GPRS based mobile platform PLUS. STAR already has other OTAs – MakeMyTrip and TravelGuru already on board. Yatra has its own GPRS based application as well, so I guess it’s about being on as many locations as possible.
– Web18′s financial portal Moneycontrol.com has launched its own mobile application called Markets On Mobile. I’d tried to download the application yesterday (SMS MOM to 52622) but had some problems – the WAP site didn’t detect my phone (N95) and start the download like it happens in most cases, and I couldn’t find a link for downloading. I informed them, and it appears to be working fine today. The application itself seems spiffy, offering News, Markets Statistics, Indices, Market Outlook, listings of stocks and a watchlist via GPRS. However, the portfolio tracker requires a pre-existing moneycontrol.com ID to work – one can’t sign up and host a portfolio using the application. Reliance Money had also recently launched an application for financial information.
Just downloaded the markets on mobile too, very impressed with the app. it is a bummer that the portfolio requires a moneycontrol password but i signed up on the site and added some of my stocks there and they showed up great on my mobile with all current news items to those stocks. Some great market information too wonder how they plan on monitizing this?? hopefully they will keep this free.. I also checked out reliance money but didnt think much of it,
Hmm.. Anybody with some numbers (of download/active users..) of Star's app. They put promo's in all possible media for one app.

This is a cool application web18 has come up with. I have been a moneycontrol fan from years. I have been using the portfolio manager from years too. day by day, it has become better. the analysis it offers, the quotes and the updates it offers. simply great.

Please do try again. It may have been a short-term issue. i am sure it will work perfectly if you:
1) Have a compatible handset
2) Active GPRS/EDGE connection.

i can not download web 18 software it shows me the error "unable to install downloading failed" any sis file for nokia n 70 – 1 please send me. Also the earlier version of MOM was better to the beta version.
Do you need a full gprs connection or the wap connection is enough for the markets on mobile application
I use a PDA that runs Windows Mobile, and use the airtel GPRS connection. I am not able to download the application. anyone please send the CAB file for the application…
