BBC Adds Additional Phone Support For TV Catch-up Service iPlayer
The BBC has launched a new portal for its TV catchup service iPlayer on mobile to support a wider range of mobile phones, including the Samsung Omnia and the Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) Xperia X1. Starting next week, the new portal, which includes live TV and radio alongside its catch up services, will also support the Sony Ericsson C905. Currently, the very popular iPlayer is available through an iPhone site and through a specific Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 96 application.
The Beeb also said the new portal, currently in beta, would introduce a new feature
Its good to see BBC is opening its online services, there are now more and more people viewing tv programs on their phone were on the move, i believe the future audience holds upon mobile phone users.
Agree with Sam, tv on your mobile is going to be a massive market. just a shame Samsung didn't think about this with the tocco as its such a big hit at the moment
I recently saw a poll when 80% of users said they would watch TV on there phone if it was easily available and cheap, or in others words, FREE!
