Cingular/AT&T To Lauch MediaFlo Mobile TV Service Later This Year
In a bit of a surprise, the largest U.S. carrier Cingular (now called AT&T) has decided to launch mobile TV services using Qualcomm’s MediaFlo technology, becoming the second operator in U.S. to back the technology and service, after Verizon Wireless. VZW’s full fledged TV service will launch next month. This means that the main rival technology DVB-H, backed by NOkia, has no public takers yet in U.S.
The two companies expect to make the service available to customers in late 2007, they said. More in release, but no specific package or pricing details have been released.

Mobile TV has some more years to struggle before it can carve a niche for itself. However, the prospects at this stage look rather bleak. This is very much in line with what http://www.18003Gguru.com has predicted for it.
