Dating Site Users Continue To Lead Matrimonial Site Registrants
In 2006, a mere 24 percent of Indian youth surfing the Net used dating and friendship sites, while 15 percent registered on matrimonial sites. That percentage has surged to 51 percent for dating sites and 48 percent for matrimonial sites in 2007, according to a recent report on matrimonial services by research firm Juxt Consult. [via agencyfaqs]While dating sites continue to stay ahead of the race, the numbers could just flip next year based on the 130 percent year-over-year growth matrimonial sites are seeing versus 88 percent for dating and friendship sites.
“Unlike the matrimonial sites that command high user loyalty and brand premium for dating, social networking sites like Orkut and Fropper, chat rooms like Yahoo and even search engine Google, where users random search for sites with dating options, displaying no loyalty” said Mrutyunjay Mishra, director, Juxt Consult.
Mishra adds:
- 37 per cent of Internet users are into both activities
-Almost 72 per cent of the people who are into dating and friendship online are also registered with matrimonial search sites.
-And 77 per cent of the registered users of matrimonial services are also undertaking dating activities on the net.

No . truth is that almost 50% of profile on these Shaadi karwao cartel is created by the parents,sibling of users . without the consent or knowledge of the person who is being auctioned there . so the conclusion that matrimonial sites command high user loyalty and brand premium .is bogus .they don't know who there user is . and if they are inserting Advertisements on the basis of Data entered . than i am sure there is no use if putting those ads as it will not be relevant to the Eyes looking at screen.
why these studies are so deprived of common sense ?
How on earth you can command brand loyalty by an[ supposedly ] one off activity like Bride/Groom hunting ? do you want to come back to Matrimonial site on an ongoing basis . i don't .
shows a kind of mental bankruptcy . i am always skeptical of these market reports and forecast . study and reports and this is one more instant to reinforce my skepticisms
