Disney Releases Mobile Comics On Airtel, Reliance, Hutch
The way they price these things…Disney has launched mobile comics – both full stories and single comic strips – on the decks of Reliance Communications, Airtel and Hutch, reports BS. They’ve priced the comic strips at Rs. 3 each on Reliance Communication networks, and entire comics at Rs. 50 on airtel and Hutch. have daily comics (Mickey, Winnie the Pooh). Disney will introduce a new character every week, and will have around 35-40 characters available on mobile by the end of the year. Disney Mobics, as they are being called, can also be downloaded from Disney’s mobile site.
I just think that Rs. 3 for a comic strip is far too high, but you never know. Branded content like that will probably be pushed on Disney Channels.Disney has also developed localized games – clams that “Mickey Rickshaw Rush” received over 70,000 downloads. Also in the works is “Donand Ganga Kinaare”. Disney has launched an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) service.
We http://www.mobileveda.com has come up with Mobile Books which could be downloaded free of cost from our website. We are working on a model where advertisers sponsor for the books and users enjoy them free. Users could even download directly from our wap site wap.thinnai.info
In India If the mobile operators come forward to work with startups and small but innovative teams like ours, miracles could happen.
Have we forgotten? Rich Content form part of the heritage of our mother land. Right From Panchatantra tales to lives of our great leaders can be converted to mobile books / comics.
BUT operators recognizing local talents…. rarely happens (But see what is the primary reason for DoCoMo's VAS success ) …. well could happen here in the future… but it will be too late.. Big multinationals would have bagged their millions and leave little for the local small players….
any takers to add inputs / comment on this view…
