Eros Ties Up With YouTube
If you cannot beat ‘em, join ‘em.
While Indian music company T-Series sent a legal notice to Google regarding the presence of copyrighted content on its video-sharing Web site YouTube, U.K.-listed bollywood producer Eros International has joined hands with YouTube. Eros announced a tie-up with YouTube on Monday for a revenue-sharing channel showcasing some content from its catalogue of 1,300 films. Movie trailers, music videos and other exclusive footage from Eros
YouTube will very soon have a paid channel to keep content owners happy.
hey thats a good deal so now i can downlaoad moviesfrom a youtube and watch them sounds interesting
hey but one thing more the 80 % revenue share to the content owners sounds fishy ……. not possible youtube deal are basically on a perhit pay model similiraly to the rajshri deal
For eg
rajshri pays a 10paisa hit to the clients per hit it might get 2 cr hits but the revenue share to the content owner is 20 lacs … a minimum advertising a website can get is 3 crs if u see the ratio 3 crs to 20 lacs it is not even 2 percent then where does 80 % revenue share arises are the content owners fools or the dont know the business

Hi Nikhil,
Not a bad deal, considering the number of people who visit, Youtube.I see a symbiotic relationship where eros will use the brand name of youtube and google extending its services to the bollywood industry.Eros releases about 30 movies per year with hits as you have mentioned before and has a library of about 1500 titles, which is not much, but can generate revenues through advertising if the content is put on Youtube.Eros has also launched a site called bollywoodondemand (http://bod.erosentertainment.com/), which unfortunately does not have too many viewers (if you trust alexa, that is).
Hi Nikhil,
Thank you for an interesting article.
I submit original music videos to Youtube as PeterCleave. At present there are about 300,000 hits on PeterCleave and at th3 present rate there will be million by December 2007.
I am trying to find out about the following;
I1s there an agency that collects royalties off Youtube in India with links to Apra in New Zealand and Australia? I am a member of Apra.
2 A large number of hits on PeterCleave Youtube come from Japan and I am looking for the name of the body in Japan that might have or be negotiating a deal with Youtube
Thanks agin for an interesting read,
