Google Integrates Transliteration To Gmail; ‘Big Step For Google In India’
Gmail users in India this morning logged in to find a small but potentially far reaching addition to their familiar gmail toolbar. An Indian language transliteration tool that supports five Indian languages
My husband is currently in India..so needless to say, I have a little more time on my hands. I found this out last evening and was able to email my mother in law and other in-laws. I was having such a good time, I emailed all my friends. Most thought I had some how got hold of a Hindi keyboard…I got a request ..can I translate gujarati also? they were pretty impressed with their american friend.
This is amazing, the best thing that has ever happened to gmail!
Now I can type in malayalam inside gmail. The pleasure of sending an email to my family in malayalam is, I realise now, a totally different experience. Suddenly communication has gone to another level altogether.
Brilliant stuff, kudos to you folks over at gmail!
And Google does it again, makes email intuitive, personalized and Indianized. At Resultrix Media we work closely with Google and their innovations are always interesting. In the coming years I wonât be surprised to see the Google logo written in Indian languages or chats in local languages.

This is not something new done by Google, This is already available at other emails. Yahoo did sometime ago. Webdunia has it for over 7-8 years.
Yes, Good for GMAIL users, Google should add other languages too.
Thanks
