Industry Moves: AT&T Mobility CEO Stan Stigman To Retire; De la Vega As New CEO
Stan Sigman, the executive responsible for bringing the iPhone to AT&T (NYSE: T) and integrating mobile operations with Cingular, is stepping down as the CEO of AT&T Mobility. He was there 42 years. Sigman will be replaced by Ralph de la Vega, who is being promoted from his current role as group president of regional telecoms and entertainment.
Reuters: De la Vega’s promotion eliminates a name from the list of potential candidates that analysts believe could replace Gary Forsee as CEO of Sprint (NYSE: S) Nextel..Foresee resigned earlier this week.
Ralph de la Vega, chief operating officer of Cingular Wireless, is responsible for technology planning, network operations,marketing, sales, and customer care for the nation’s largest wireless carrier. Named as president and CEO, AT&T;Mobility, replacing Stanley T. Sigman.
