Jet Airways And Hutch Launch Mobile Airline Ticketing Service
Jet Airways has launched a mobile airline-ticketing service called JetWallet, for Jet Privilege members who are also Hutch customers. JetWallet allows Jet Privilege members to book, pay (via credit card) and generate e-tickets on the phone. Apparently, “subject to terms and conditions”, customers can also view change, cancel and refund the e-tickets booked through JetWallet. E-Tickets are emailed to a user specified email addresses, and a copy of the details is SMSed. There’s also an option of a web check-in. The application can be used for domestic flights only. The service is application based, and has been developed by Sam Pitroda’s C-Sam Inc. [release]
I think by offering it to only Hutch customers who are Jet Privilege members, they’re skimming the market and limiting the userbase; hence also limiting the risk. They would probably to increase the userbase gradually, and that’s where the security risk will come in. The advantage is that they would be able to track each and every mobile number and its activity, so the risk is lesser than online. Should be interesting to see once one of the travel portals launches an application, giving access to booking flights from more than one airline.
And see what Indigo is doing!!!
IndiGo has announced a promotional offer on 100,000 tickets at Rs. 100, Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 for the holiday season. The tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis beginning today.

And now all they need to do is buy my domains mobileticket.in and mobiletickets.in ;)
http://www.flightraja.com are already having a mobile search engine wherein mobile users of hutch by sms'ing fly to 6858 can do search on all carriers and get fares and dep times for all destinations.
HI Niri
The service brought by FLight Raja is not actually mobile ticketing .. After u SMS to 6858.. all you get is the fares and the timings on all airlines..
but you cannot book via your mobile.. after you send another SMS requesting for a booking ..some one from flight raja actually calls you and creates your booking.. you are asked for your credit card details verbally.. and a ticket is emailed to you
Whereas what Jet Airways is offering is a proper Mobile ticketing application where you can book and also pay on your mobile..
