I think technically Sony-Ericsson's P800 back in 2002 was the first touchscreen phone, more than 4 years before LG's Prada (and with plenty of successors in-between too…) HTC also did a number of touchscreen Windows Mobile devices in the same period.
The Prada was possibly the first touchscreen handset to reach the public designed to be used without a stylus though – one of those trends which must have independently been cooked up by Samsung, LG and Apple designers among others.
