Head Of Media Planning And Buying At Mediaturf Moves To Web18
Contentsutra has learnt that Jaidev Iyer, Head for Media Planning and Buying at Mediaturf has put in his papers. Sources have confirmed that Iyer will be joining Web18 within the next couple of days and heading Business Development for some of their portals – Cricketnext.com, Tech2.com and/or the recently launched Indiwo.com. Web18 is a TV18 group company, with Surya Mantha, former VP Interactive Services at Sify as its CEO. Web18 is expected to list later this year. Last year, several Mediaturf employees had quit to start Interactive Avenues; has the agency business of Mediaturf has recovered from that blow?
Disclaimer: I have an inconsequential number of shares of TV18 and Network18
This is not a surprising news… It seems ContentSutra missed out on Anurag Gupta who is Mediaturf's EVP & Director based at Delhi. He has also put in his papers recently. Around two months ago, LD Sharma resigned Mediaturf who was their National Head Search (I think, AVP Level if I am not wrong). This seems to be bad time for Connecturf. It appears that it could be one of the initiatives Neville Tarapurewalla has taken ever since he joined from Yahoo India but of no use, we don't see any big accounts in Connecturf's kitty after that.
There seems to be big exodus from Mediaturf especially from Delhi and I wonder if they are joining hands with Quasar or Interactive Avenues. One reason for Anurag leaving Mediaturf could be something within the company where he was not given the position he wanted because he is an IIM-A graduate and with pretty good no of years experience. It is for certain that there would be other people leaving them.
The big question! – Where would Anurag Gupta go? Well, I guess, definitely not in advertising space, i think. Also very surprising that there is no news of LD Sharma's joining new assignment. Some of my sources say that he is joining some US travel portal as VP – Search & Affiliate Marketing.
Mediaturf, its time to wake up, and its time to wake up.
Thanks
A well wisher of Mediaturf
Quasar Media is recruiting heavily on all fronts – They are the right guys to go to if one has passion for the business and digital industry. Thats a true 360 degree digital media company
CONNECTURF is a great brand, there are a few hiccups which will be ironed out soon. People leaving in quick succession on on the outset is something that company definetly needs to look in to, but it has few great resources who need to swim against the tide.
Being an insider of the firm, i understand the bottle necks it faces (TOP HEAVY, and turning a blind eye to reality) but there are couple of key resources who can swim against the tide.
Among the many people who have quit is only a good thing, as people who have left have been asked to leave as the first concern (TOP HEAVY) is being addressed, next also will be addressed.
I'm sure another couple of things getting it right, CONNECTURF will consolidate (it may not bounce back to having the 60-70% market share) but it cannot be ignored.
They have had a first movers advantage which is slipping, but alls not over.
BTW to add to it, they have woken up, woken up. time for the "WELL WISHER" to understand that.
Once again, this great platform is being misused to piss in the wind. Let me just put to rest any further thoughts. Jaidev, LD and Anurag are/have moving/moved to pursue their interests and priorities. These gentlemen were the best professionals during their stint with us. Connecturf is proud to have such partners in its ranks. And no, they were not asked to leave like SOME others in the past.
Connecturf has been a happy hunting ground for many over the past few years. Why, because talent gets shaped here. A company of TV18’s repute hiring from us is a matter of pride (Sai, you owe me one for JD). Our endeavour has been to grow such talent relentlessly and will continue doing so (wish some bytes from the people leaving were also reported). Reputed companies not considering your company’s talent is not such a good feeling, right?
So, SOME of you need to desist from using such platforms to secure your own insecurities. And, are you ashamed of using the name/identity your parents gave you?
I am sorry to be wasting my time responding to misuse.
Ramani,
You will never change.. you just remain the same.
It seems the piss in the wind is hitting you now..
Anyways.. all the best !!! Keep trying someday you might understand..
Hey Jaidev,
All the best mate! wish you luck for your new assinment.
Cheers!
Why is a BIG DEAL made out of people leaving company? I guess it is omnipresent and happening everywhere , if 5 people have left CONNECTURF, 3 people have also joined them .
DON'T MAKE AN ISSUE OUT OF TISSUE. RAMANI need NOT participate in this forum to clarify anything to any "WELL WISHER". WELL WISHER has right to express his opinion but sadly he is concluding 2+2 = 22 which is not the case.
ANURAG, LD and JD were not indispensible for CONNECTURF and they were in the company for only 7-9 months odd. When CONNECTURF survived the planned yet cowardly exit of 30 odd people who worked for many years , they can survive these 3 people pretty easily.
Ramani – i repeat again pure focussed actions buddy, and u will have the last laugh, u had 70% clients with you, even if u get 30% that will speak for itself, but time for you not rest on your previous laurels but to make a fresh start, neville will be a pure asset who is disciplined, focussed realistic and u are radical and flamboyant (u need to be more available for ur employees and be realistic) – together u can change the name of the game and i am going to support you from a distance.
GOD BLESS
Wow., 30 people coming out all of a sudden is really bad.,
Well Well Well
Platform, wind, piss & Ramani…
It surprises me what this man is capable of doing & saying. Whom did he fire all the top performers like Ratish, Shantanu, Amar, Sunil, the list goes on, assuming at least Anjali was not fired sice she left much before the firing spree he went on. Biggies were fired followed by small timers like Ashish, Anuj, Anubhav the list is long here again and then he fired tech and ops people but all this for what?
After all this now piss in the wind is troubling him. I wonder WHY? And I thought he is running a corporate now when did it change to SCHOOL where you learn online marketing secrets and move on.
