MobileStore Launches Online Store
The MobileStore, the mobile retail JV between Virgin and the Essar Group has launched its online sales operations, reports ET. While the company plans to extend services across India, the initial plan is to target 11 cities – Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Cochin, Ahmedabad and Pune. The MobileStore currently has around 600 stores, and is targeting 2500 stores in the next two years, and the site has a store locator. There are apparently plans for a gadget blog, news and reviews. Currently, there are a number of e-commerce portals that sell gadgets: gadgets.ingadgetguru.in, gadgetindia.com; apart from these, Rediff, Indiatimes, Futurebazaar and Indiaplaza also sell mobile phones…so does a shop a 5 minute drive from my place.
