Motricity Announces Exec Team; Loses COO Steve Elfman To Sprint
After announcing that it will move its headquarters to Bellevue to be closer to key personnel, Motricity said today that president and COO Steve Elfman is leaving the company to work at beleaguered Sprint (NYSE: S) Nextel as the president of network operations and wholesale business.
It will be interesting to see if Elfman’s departure is a strain on Motricity. Following the acquisition of InfoSpace (NSDQ: INSP) Mobile, the company re-organized the business, announcing that it will lay off 250 employees from its North Carolina headquarters and move to Bellevue, Wash., to join InfoSpace’s offices. Not including Motricity’s CEO and chairman Ryan Wuerch, most of the remaining executives were from InfoSpace, and previously reported to Elfman. In a release, Wuerch said: “We certainly don
It looks like Ryan paid $135Million to Infospace so that he could lay off his whole team in Durham and move to Bellevue to manage Steve Elfman's organization. I bet the employees in both places are not exactly jumping for joy. I wonder what the Operators think?
*low whistle*
Never a dull moment around the MoSpace. It's like getting paid to live in a soap opera.
The new Titanic…I hear the band playing!
Anyone taking bets on the new COO? Or how long it takes the Bellvue executive team to flee? What's Ryan going to do with mCore? Will there ever be another All Hands meeting? Tune in next week.
I thought Infotrocity was mess but he's moving to Sprint!? That's a gluten for punishment
Are any of the senior leadership team from Durham remaining with the company in any capacity at all? Are they being slid in under the Bellevue folks? Any indication as to whether Elfman simply refused to work for Wuerch, was always intended to be pushed out, or if Wuerch didn't want too much talent and experience too close? Any pink slips in Durham yet?
Classic Ryan gambit – remove those who disagree or expose your ineptitude. Welcome to Hell, Infospace employees.
This has nothing to do with Wuerch. It's about a long standing relationship between Elfman and Hesse.
I now give you my Projections in the year 2008 for something called Motrcity (sp?):
October 07 Revenue Projection: 1 Billion Dollars coming soon.
December/January 08 Revenue Projection: 200 Million eoy 2008
March Revenue Projection: just a smidge over 100 Million eoy 2008
For some reason my damn crystal ball doesn't seem to report past 2008, not sure what the problem is, wait here we go, it says Smithers inadvertedly launches nuclear attack on China using a new mobile app simulating global thermonuclear war games thus ending all civilization for eternity AND giving him one more title: World DESTRUCTOR!!!
Man, InfoSpace is in for a rude and painful awakening. If I was a infospace employee I would go ahead and start testing the job market right now and beat the rush
