Norwest Venture's Haque Sees Mobile As Key In Consumer Internet Space
Venture capital firm Norwest Venture Partners’ managing partner Promod Haque cites consumer Internet space and in that mobile Internet as key interest areas, in an interview with Mint. The VC has two or three bets in that space such as Yatra.com and Sulekha. Haque expects mobile Internet to be bigger than broadband, PC-based Internet. “The reason why it (consumer Internet) continues to be an interesting sector is the mobile aspect to it,” Haque told Mint.
The second area of interest to Haque is companies that are more in the area of product development, such as Persistent Systems, and KPOs (knowledge process outsourcing).
With the new no call registry for mobile callers in India can dampen the aura of mobile initiatives in India. People are fed of getting bombarded with ads and SMS.
I think the consumer will start revolting against all the ads and disturbances.

Venture capital funding is a type of investment that is offered by to those who are willing to help in the business. This is very similar to getting a loan from the bank since these people will eventually become a strategic partner but at a lower interest rate.
It is not about internet advertising alone, it is about engaging and exciting content. Until the Carriers do not begin to share revenues with mobile content developers, mobile internet in India will not take off. Maybe a new spectrum such as 3G will help. Good content, blended with effective advertising is the right mix.
