Note For PR Agencies
The last time I ranted about PR people, a friend from the PR business suggested that I try to be nicer next time. So here goes:
– Please do not call to tell me that you’ve sent a release. If you’ve sent it, consider it received. Then it’s our decision about when to use it, if at all. Also, in case we haven’t used it immediately, do not resend the release 10 times. This also applies to six people from the same PR agency sending the same release, and three of them calling up.
– Please do not send releases to my personal email ID. The two for ContentSutra are nikhil AT contentsutra DOT com and (cc to) nikhil DOT contentnext AT gmail DOT com. All the others are personal.
– No point in calling up five days after a conference, asking me to feel free to contact the company you represent for a story on the conference.
– Contentsutra covers the Indian market, so no point in sending releases related to Asiapac or the US, particularly China. For that, there’s paidcontent.org, paidcontent.co.uk and moconews.net
– Please do not send us emails regarding awards – we’ve repeatedly said that we do not cover them.
– Above all, please do not send me releases regarding banking, marine fuel, automobiles, BPOs, Software companies. Only Internet and mobile companies. We do our homework on the companies that we cover, and expect you to do yours.
If there’s any confusion, kindly email me a list of companies that you represent, and I will gladly (gleefully) specify which of them we cover (depending on the relevance of the news, ofcourse).
Dude,
You have attitude coming out of your ass! I'm from the Print media, from a far more respected media house than yours and we treat PR individuals with respect.
Who the hell cares about Kama oh sorry yr content sutra anyway. Get realistic chum!
totally agree with you, Mukesh. These two bit bloggers(not even journalists) who fill up their site with news from other news website sources think they are the greatest news site in the world with this attitude. And check out Mr Nikhil's arrogant advices to some of the new services and companies in his comments as if the real professionals do not know anything and are idiots and this kid has got all the knowledge in the industry to get their companies running.
completely agree. don't like people who don't do their homework. mukesh, it's obvious you have an agenda, what's it?
Yes…this really shows attitude…Im not from any media or PR agency…but a regular reader…..
Nikhil, I must say ……start respecting other medias from where u dig out news….or someday everybody will sue u to use news from them….and those handful of internet players who pay you for writing will stop paying…
I'm sorry Ya! I'm very insecure. I've had a torrid childhood. I'm a loser. Please dont make fun of me. Please. Please.
Smart ass comments from Nikhil continues! grow up dude! You are not a loser, you are an idiot!
Raghavan: the above comment isn't from me. Just some troll.
Mukesh: I respect PR people who do their homework, but not those who don't. Maybe you and VASguy can tell me which of the above points that I have listed is unreasonable.
Also, there are print journalists who have also voiced their frustration regarding PR people on blogs. Recently, a senior journalist advised me to refuse to take calls from the errant ones…shortly after posting this, I got one of those "have you received my press release" calls.
VASguy: I've never claimed to be an expert, but I do have an opinion, which I'm free to voice. Whenever you think I'm wrong about something, please do point it out – it will be of use to others.
Sonali: no Internet player is paying me to blog about their company. Editorial content here is not on sale.
hey this is an excellent site for updated news on the mobile space. i have been in this business for 9 years and havent come across any other site that gives info this quickly. You maybe right about skimming info from other sites but this is invaluable information at one spot. Going by your logic any news that you report will be available on 100 other websites so lets not report it !! Get a life guys and give him a break.
Syed,
A number of his competitors Wat Blog and Blognation for instance are infinitely better. They don't throw attitude and don't reproduce Press Release.
Mr.Nikhil's specialty is reproducing press releases verbatim and then he writes derogatory posts like this one about PR people.
thanks for the info.
