"I own an inconsequential number of shares of TV18 and related companies " – Does that mean you do free marketing for them? like the above post?? even before they launch anything substantial? Good going.. Next time also post how many percentage points did you gain on the stock through this post :P
No I don't do free marketing for them. I've been investing in equity markets for 8 years now, and as per company policy, we disclose investments related to companies we cover.
Secondly, the above story isn't beneficial for TV18 — if anything I think it's not good for Web18 since Tangerine is operating in the same domain. Raghav Bahl has a personal investment in Tangerine and hence TV18 (and I as a shareholder) do not benefit from it.
Some of the data in the above post — like the quantum of Bahl's investment and how much they're paying featured bloggers — are things which the company would not liked to have disclosed…this is a story I've pieced together over the last six months, bit-by-bit, without information directly from either Tangerine or Bahl. You may check with either of them.
Somehow i am un-comfortable with paying people to blog on the site, it kills the whole spirit of web 2.0 which is free interaction of indivtuals on common interests.
Agreed it can considered to a newspaper where journalists are paid, but agin for me its a nah nah ….
I dont understand why some entrepreneurs invest in their personal capacity and not through their listed entity. Starbucks foray into India is through Kishore Biyani's personal capacity, why not through his listed Pantaloon as he has to spare his time for his own benefit and not for shareholders..Same case of Raghav Bahl here.
Its breaking story , considering how difficult it is to pull out such stories but i really dont understand how this business model is similar to web18 which is mother portal/company for host of individual verticals. ofcousre unless untill web18 launch its own campus18 type portfal, may be to an extent it is similar to bharatstudent.com from northgate technologies.

Bingo! this is exactly what I think. Paying first time bloggers to get content could really deter the whole spirit blogging. I have no problems with paying top bloggers to get quality content, perhaps they could also have revenue sharing model. Look at the plagiarism case in ibibo blogs, people would just copy paste content from popular blogs just to earn some moolah. People should keep content on their mind before money when they're just begining. When your blog makes it big then you can think about making money out of it.
Well, i just randomly came across this write up my Mr. Pahwa here, and i think that your information collected over the past six months is somewhat incorrect…
I am personally asssociated with Campus18 as a delhi correspondent for the past 3 months (and also a registered user of the forum mentioned above)….and am soo not getting paid any money for the same!! All i get is a platform to showcase my creative skills, and a chance to share my personal experiences and photographs with students from all over the country….
Me or any of my fellow friends from other cities like Mumbai, Navi Munbai, Chennai, etc are voluntary correspondents, who believe that Campus18 is a platform to showcase their talents, and hence, are willingly posting at the forum….we are not hired, or paid for any work we put up there…
I am not trying to clarify anything here….i just came across this randomly, and i couldn't help but comment !
I agree with Nehal. I too am associated with Campus18 as a Delhi Correspondent and they have never mentioned anything about paying us. Its our choice whether we want to write for the forum or not. And yes, copy-paste is something which I guess not campus correspondent would do!
Nikhil – cover some of the well deserved enterpreneurs out there and not just another me to or a big boys bad game :-) . no offence dude but your content could be better and more interesting..

Now we know your potfolio – TV18, Network 18, Info Edge. Have you made any money by the way?
