Social Net For Mothers, CafeMom, Secures $5 Million Financing
CafeMom, a social net for mothers, has raised $5 million in funding, according to VentureBeat (via Venturewire). The funding came from Highland Capital Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson, who have backed the company for seven years and have provided about $50 million so far. The site claims to have garnered more than 65 million pageviews and 1.7 million unique visits in July. CafeMom is owned by CMI, which was co-founded by actor Andrew Shue (known for the Fox nighttime 90′s soap Melrose Place). The company’s other investors over the past few years have included Himalaya Capital Ventures and Perseus.
what did the first 50 million cover?
I am a cafemom member!!! Cafe mom is a great place to meet other moms like you. There are hundreds of groups where you can find moms who share your hobbies, lifestyle and experiences. and my website http://www.babyformulachecks.com shows information for new and experienced moms about baby formula, Similac coupons and checks, Enfamil coupons and checks, how to cash Similac check, how to cash Enfamil checks and I am also an affiliate of cafemom. I am happy I have the opportunity on inviting other moms to join cafe mom by going to http://www.babyformulachecks.com and click on the cafe mom banner !!!
The first $50 M probably covered set up, PR, and all of the promotions that the website has done. CafeMom is a great place for Moms to connect. They have done so much for moms and mom-to-bes over the past few years! It's absolutely amazing!
I am LancesMom on CafeMom and I have to say there is not one other social networking site on the internet that treats their members as this company does! And for the promotions on the site, Excellent. What other site gives Mom 's $500 gift cards to do room makeovers using sponsors store brands!
I got mine! Did you? Join at http://www.cafemom.com/invite Tell them LancesMom sent you!
CafeMom has only been around for 1 year & has done so much for Moms.
I'm new to Cafe Mom. Been to other sites. This site is very friendly and helpful.
Moms- I am a retired pastor and need your help. We have had a fire in our double wide home. We lost our ministry office as well. If any of you can help me get back on my feet I would truly appreciate it. Living on Social security is hard enough without having to start over. I have two daughters one 24 and one 17. This has been really hard on our whole family. My nephew from Louisiana is trying to protect us and is paying for everything bill wise. But he cant keep this up. Anything you can do would mean so very much. Your sister in Christ. Pastor Angelique St Hiliare 10636 Gandy Blvd Suite 2 B St Petersburg, Florida 33702 God Bless you each one.
I like the way cafemom allows you to form a group about issues that are important to you, such as Fibromyalgia sisters,God Bless America,myspace40moms,40ish and beyond. It has allowed me to meet many nice people and form friendships that I hope to keep for many years to come.
Does Cafemom helps entrepreneur moms get their business off the ground?
The site looks great but I think this company is more interested in making money than helping moms. It's a complete ripoff of myspace and it doesn't even give mothers any valuable information about motherhood.
A better site for new moms is: http://www.pregnancy-info.net/
Do we really need another social networking site just for moms or do you think a website that has relevant and crucial information about motherhood is more important? I rather keep my kids healthy than waste time socializing.
Myspace is also notorious for sex offenders and members posting negative things about others. You will soon see this is the same thing and that time spent on this website is time wasted.
To the moms that actually use this site, please do not fuel this type of garbage it's pointless and a waste of time. Mothers should not be socializing we should focus on what's best for our children and making it happen. My whole life is about my babies, not about making fake internet friends that takes time away from my family.
Shame on you Cafemom, i see right through you and so will others.
