Telephone Directory Search Co Just Dial Goes Online
The local search market in India sure is heating up. After Guruji and OnYoMo, telephone directory search company Just Dial has launched its online local search services at JustDial.com. Most other local search services have tied up with Infomedia for local data, while Just Dial already has a fairly large database of its own.
We’d broken the news in October of Just Dial receiving funding from SAIF Partners. Ravi Adusumalli, General Partner, SAIF Partners had said then that Just Dial has Internet and mobile plans. The mobile search service will be made available by SMS to 3999. In that context, it’s interesting that Just Dial’s search is powered by Ziva Software, which had recently launched a local mobile search service called Zook.
At JustDial, I did a search for ‘Chinese Restraunts’ (intentional typo) in Bandra, Mumbai and got some pretty interesting results: Firstly, the site gave me relevant search options, and then a price range for restaurants. As per the release, JustDial intends to include menu cards, and in case of movie tickets – link to online ticketing services.
Two issues that I see hindering usage: first is consumer awareness, for which there is TV Commercials, and the second is the issue of spam. JustDial, for their telephone search service, shares details of queries with vendors (a friend of mine paid Rs.100 per query forwarded to him by JustDial). So far, the site has sponsored listings for revenue generation.

Totally dig this… Its much better than other sites.. Ijust hope they keep their data clean and updated
Neet to applaud Justdials Effort. Its a positive step on their behalf in offering on-demand service. All that is required is that they keep their data updated consistently and have a user intutive data accesibility
I think Just Dial on the Net sucks big time! They are good with the phone but the service on the net calls for a lot of improvement. It is so basic and crude, has no indexing to search engines, and only if you know the name of the business establishment can you get the tel number / address. It is merely a phone directory on the net. Hey guys at JudtDial, spending tons of money on TV ads will get you visits, not more thn that.
Just Dial rocks! I have been using it since a long time now & they always met my expectations.I have visited the site & the site is damn cool
Sorry Krish but I dont agree with you.Its a very useful site & it gives information about various services too.

when u r in trubble just dial is always their to help you
i think you guys havent tried GURUJI.COM ..the site just is the search engine for any local information..i think they beat justdial or any other local search engine hands down…i have been reading abt their activities all over the place..they have multiple languague web search too..which i think is the best from any indian company and they are being compared to the likes of google and yahoo..i guess this is finally a wake up call for google…u need one small wonder to beat the goliath in India and finally its an indian product which is just gonna do that…
Make sure you don't give your email address to them, though. The spamming scum send me spam mail every day, despite my requesting several times to be unsubscribed by phone, email, website and post. They do all their spamming from a subsidiary 'theindianmart.com'. I'm fairly sure they're selling my address to spammers as well.
Dear All,
Have you tried listing on Just Dial. They are very poor in support. half of staff are not aware of categories and how entire system works. They talk a lot but no results. Waste of money. I wrote them more than 10 mails for simple changes but still not done. No response.
