The Pursuit Of…And Six Years Into It
I will keep this anniversary note short this year…I started paidContent.org six years ago on this day, June 4th 2002, in NYC. So it is only fitting that three-more-sites-about-50-events-and-25-more-employees-later, we do our six-year anniversary mixer tonight in the city. Just in the last year, our organization has grown and matured a lot, though there is still a lot to be done as we scale…expect a lot more from us, especially some interesting additions later this year. Thanks to everyone who came along for the ride and stuck with us…
Rafat,
Congratulations. According to US Department of Commerce figures, 80% of new business fail within the first five years. So, congrats on thriving through number 6! Well, the data is also harsh after year five, but we won't get into that!

Congrats Rafat and team! One of the best pro blogs in the business, always an inspiration and great read.
I follow You since the beginning. Great work! :-)
Happy anniversary from Italy
While I'll challenge Paul on those US Dept of Commerce statistics (business-failure rates are notoriously flawed), I couldn't agree more that what you've done with PaidContent.org & Co. beats the odds. It has come (and is coming) through hard work on your part (and those on the PaidContent team), focus and business savvy. Congratulations to you, Staci and the entire team. Sorry I can't be there tonight.
Hey Paul
thanks…that's a good lesson to keep in mind. rest assured, we are not resting…
Congrats guys. You've been doing a great job!
Rafat,
Congratulations to you and Staci as well as the entire paidContent.org Team. I'm sorry I can't join you this evening in NYC. All the best!
Rafat- you and your team present the classiest perspective on digital media on the web. Unadulterated, unassuming, and candid.
We love you for it.
Thank you.
Rex,
I pulled the US Dept. of Commerce stat from Michael E. Gerber, from The E-Myth Revisited. Sure, take those figures for what they are worth, and perhaps they are overblown – I am not familiar with the methodology. But from my own experience and listening to broader players like VCs, I think that most startups are in the graveyard after a few years, but that is not based on a statistical analysis.
