Yahoo Readying A Women’s Content Site

Amidst all this craziness surrounding Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) bid and its own layoffs, the company is still trying to, well, work: it is about to launch a women’s site, reports Jon Fine at BW…it is aimed at women between the ages of 25 and 54, and from the sound of it, may bring together various elements that Yahoo already has in its sub-sites, with fashion and beauty, entertainment, health, astrology, home, food, parenting, relationships, and work and money. No decision on a name yet, but a name in contention is Shine, the story says.

The new site’s editor-in-chief will be Brandon Holley, who came to Yahoo in November, 2007, after stints as top editor of the now-defunct magazines Elle Girl and Jane…it has a staff of about 12.

Lots of activity in the woman’s space: Wowowow is launching this weekend, then IAC (NSDQ: IACI) is expected to launch a woman’s site too.
