Comcast’s Horror Channel To Launch; VOD + Online
Comcast’s new multiplatform network, Fearnet, will launch on Halloween next Tuesday, backed by a library of 200 horror films from studios such as Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM…the channel is VOD only on TV for COmcast subscribers, and the company will also pitch the Fearnet on-demand service to other cable companies. Online, Fearnet.com will debut Oct. 31, and will offer free streaming movies (about 50 of them), as well as short-form content such as film clips, exclusive features and even a trailer for Lionsgate
I have been consistently happy with FEARnet / Comcast's choice of films available for the on-demand horror crowd. There will usually be one or two films a month that are not available anywhere on DVD, but get the on-demand treatment including 80's horror "classics" NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and SLAUGHTER HIGH.
