Godrej & Boyce To Launch E-Commerce Portal Next Month

Business Standard: As offline retail biggies like Reliance Retail and Pantaloon are gearing up for e-commerce, here is a consumer durable manufacturer getting into the act. The retail division of Godrej & Boyce plans to launch an e-commerce portal by mid-October. The company makes refrigerators and washing machines, among other things. Shyam Motwani, vice-president & business head, retailing division, Godrej & Boyce, thinks that the e-commerce division may contribute close to 10 per cent of their total turnover of the retailing division. It is targeting a Rs 100 crore turnover by the end of this fiscal.
The company plans to target NRI customers who want to present gifts to their families back in India.
