InfoSpace Forms Games Unit

InfoSpace, which has bought out three mobile gaming related companies in the last year or so (mostly in Europe), has formed a gaming division. This follows its rapidly growing forays into the mobile content space…
The new unit will combine the three acquired companies: Atlas Mobile for multiplayer and tournament “for prizes” formats; Elkware for its role-playing genre, 3D and handset porting technologies; and IOMO for its casual, sports and action expertise.
With about $300 million in cash still left with the company, expect it to make some big acquisitions this year. Some targets, as this post speculates: Trip Hawkin’s Digital Chocolate and San Mateo-based Sorrent are prime targets.
