Microsoft To Provide Search, Messenger And Mail To Hutch In India

The Hindu reports that Microsoft will be providing Windows Live services to Hutch subscribers in India, including search, mail, and Windows Live Spaces.
Much like the recent release about Gmail being “made available” on the mobile in India (which we didn’t cover cause it wasn’t news), these services are accessible by GPRS anyway. So what’s the tie-up about? Is Microsoft going to create, as the report states – “search for local business listing and services for major Indian cities” ? Or will they be providing a J2ME enabled “‘Windows Live’ suit” that Huchtison Essar MD Asim Ghosh talks about in the report? We await clarifications.
Update:
Details of the Windows Live service on mobile are here. Also, from Indiainfoline: the Windows Live service will serve as a platform for advertisers and independent content providers to reach Hutch customers.
Now we wait for the recently launched Java based GMail to be expanded to include other Google services.
