Movie M-Ticketing Gets Barcoded
PVR’s M-Ticketing application has received an upgrade: They’re now piloting a barcode system of ticketing in Bangalore and Hyderabad, reports Business Standard. The booking can be done via IVRS or the mobile application, and a 2D barcode is sent as a picture message to the user. The message can be scanned at a ticketing kiosk, which prints the tickets. Singapore based Tagit has provided the technology, and is in talks with other multiplexes as well.
Fame Cinema’s also has an SMS based mobile ticketing service, while other multiplex chains (Inox, Cinemax and Adlabs), have set up ticket dispensing booths. Does Adlabs have a mobile ticketing option via Reliance World, given Anil Ambani’s stake in Adlabs? This barcode technology could probably be used for flight tickets.

hey nikhil,
good coverage on movie ticketing, just wondering how they are handling payment processing on mobile, getting web CC processing backend provider itself is big hassle in India with limited choices!!
Good Job Nikhil but do you know there is a company locally situated in Bangalore which is into the manufacturing of kiosks i wonder if these people instead of getting these technologies from abroad they should get it from the local vendor which will be cost effective as well as service will be not a problem, i am posting that company's address below for reference.
