mTLD Announces .Mobi Launch Date

mTLD has announced the launch date for the .mobi domain name, along with all the other hoopla that accompanies the launch of domain names these days.
“The rollout will commence with the “Sunrise Registration Period” for trademark holders in June 2006, followed by the “General Registration” in September. mTLD is working closely with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), registrars, copyright bodies and site owners to ensure that trademarks are properly protected during the Sunrise Period.” The precise details are here.
mTLD is giving the mobile industry a headstart in registering its trademarks, so if a mobile company has the same trademark as another company the mobile company gets first dibs.
