New Domain Name For Mobile Sites Approved

“.mobi” has been approved by ICANN as a top level domain…The idea is that .mobi websites will be optimised for viewing on mobile phones with their smaller screens and limited memory and bandwidth.

The .mobi domain passed the test of a strong industry group to promote and regulate it with mTLD, a joint venture between Hutchison 3, GSM Association, Ericsson, Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung, Telefonica Moviles , T-Mobile, Vodafone and now Syniverse.
