Sabeer Bhatia Relaunches Arzoo.com As Travel Portal
Hotmale Sabeer Bhatia has now thrown his hat into India’s hotly contested online travel ring. Bhatia today relaunched Arzoo.com as an online travel portal. It will offer domestic and international flight bookings as well as hotel reservations – which almost all other travel portals do. It’s not clear how much is Arzoo’s capitalisation.
Arzoo was initially launched in 1999. Then it tried to create a virtual classroom with experts answering technology queries from companies and individuals. The company bombed, however. He had invested some $8 million of his own money and had raised $7 million more. The company was burning some $500,000 a month, employing some 50 programmers in the US. Later he rolled down shutters.
Travel is his latest bet, and he is relaunching it under Arzoo banner.
