VCs Upbeat About Wireless; Mayfield Invests In Sports GG, Black Arrow

Here are some highlights of the FORTUNE magazine’s Brainstorm conference. Mayfield Fund has invested in a company called Sports GG. It has developed a service that allows Chinese consumers to legally bet on sports using their cell phones. Sports GG is operational for the current FIFA World Cup. The other investment of Mayfield is a mobile advertising startup Black Arrow. “It is experimenting with what types of ads will work on cell phones as well as other forms of media technology, such as digital video recorders.” The panelists comprising of leading VCs were upbeat about mobile and wireless internet.
