Yahoo Taps CBS Exec For Online Units Head

Plenty of fun these days tracking exectuive movement from one online company to another (check out our Industry Moves section): David Katz, a rising star at CBS during the past few years, is set to join Yahoo media group as head of Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Entertainment and Yahoo TV. Katz most recently was senior VP strategic planning and interactive ventures at CBS. Among his achievements, Katz developed the first broadcast TV network-based online video subscription service, “Big Brother 24/7.”
His move comes as CBS itself formed a high-profile digital unit, headed by former MarketWatch founder and CEO Larry Kramer.
Updated: LATimes: Yahoo’s spate of Hollywood hires has puzzled some entertainment industry executives, who wonder what it is up to. Yahoo won’t disclose many details about this component of its strategy, and Braun has kept a low profile since joining the company last fall.
