In order to clinch its purchase of 40 million customer names from bankrupt Borders, Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) made a series of promises to the court on steps it would take to protect the privacy of those customers. Now a consumer advocate claims the company broke its pledge.

Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI), which filed for bankruptcy in September, is now putting itself up for sale. The video rental chain says in a statement that by selling itself it will be able “to accelerate our Chapter 11 proceedings and move the company forward.”

Dish Network (NSDQ: DISH) (Nasdaq: DISH) will acquire 100 percent of the equity of DBSD North America, a hybrid satellite and terrestrial TV company, for about $1 billion. DBSD has been going through bankruptcy process and the deal requires the approval of the FCC.

The company, which filed for bankruptcy nearly two years ago, has finally reached a settlement with its major creditors.
